At 106, Mandouki, the Art Display

of Iliana Metallinou is open to the public from 8 to 10 pm daily, until the 15th June 2011.

The display consists of three units:

Space, Comics and Corfiot landscapes.

From the Comics series...

On the 16th June another painter will display his work-visit us again to stay informed!

Teaching how to recycle at the A primary school this morning...Mr.A.Georgiadis, High school maths teacher and ecologist, showed the young pupils how to recycle and talked about the benefits of compost making.He has started an educational tour to local schools so as the students get to know all about recycling and composting.To organize a display at your place, contact him at2661047106.

THE WHITE SNAIL

This morning there was a book presentation at the premises of A primary school
where three classes (from nursery to B) attended and participated in the activities that followed the reading.

The writer showed the pupils the illustrations of the story on the school projector and then they all drew and painted snails on the photocopies provided.

They were about 40 pupils participating, from 4 to 7 .

We are grateful to the teachers for their kind support and their enthusiasm and hope this activity will take place in more schools all over the island and maybe ...on the mainland schools too!

On the 2 March 2011 THE WHITE SNAIL storybook was presented to the young readers of B primary school at the Public library(old castle).The kids listened to the story read by the actress Alexandra Pagiataki and then drew and painted snails in the kids reading room. At the end of the activity the writer gave away snail cards and real snail shells.The next reading of THE WHITE SNAIL will take place on the 9 March at the A Primary school.

This month is ideal for some fresh air outings to the wonderful wildlife resorts of the island.

Last Sunday I visited Bioporos, an area on the south of Corfu, at Korission lake. The view was amazing, the eco farm was ecxellent as well as the fresh food they prepare for their visitors. This place is ideal for a vacation all the year round. Visitors can walk around the farm, walk up to the lake and then enjoy the meals at the farm restaurant. There is a lot to see, from local exhibits in the small museum, to wildlife species.

An interesting place to spend your time and relax!

The story book event at the Art Gallery of Corfu was a success! More than 30 kids attended, listened to the stories, painted snails and gardens, and then all had refreshments at the cafe in the garden.

The next event will be on the 18th December.

Pinakothiki (at the old palace) organizes a children's activity every saturday from 11 am to 1 pm. The event caters to young children 6-10 years old who like tales and art. Participants should bring with them a sketching pad and colors.

On the 18th December, when is the last event for this year, 20 copies of the children's book THE WHITE SNAIL will be offered to the young kids participating in the activity.

Admission: 3 euros for each child
